KaartWaard - combating elderly loneliness one card at a time

Elderly loneliness is a significant problem in the Netherlands, negatively impacting health and well-being, which is recognised as sustainable development goal 3. To tackle this in a covid-proof way, we have built a website that allows students to quickly and easily type a short letter to an elderly person. We then deliver these to the elderly, along with a blank card and an address for them send a response and therefore build a long-term pen pal relationship. To generate revenues to finance our venture, we will sell cards with artworks designed by students and local artists. We hope to expand this project across the Netherlands.
